Three burglars were eventually apprehended after trying to evade South Yorkshire Police in an old BMW X3.
According to UK Police Chases & Crime, the men came clean about the burglary charge, as well as to the fact they stole the car, though of course, not before they did everything they could to try and escape, which included ramming a police car that tried to cut them off and speeding through the narrow streets of Sheffield.
Judging by the dashcam imagery provided by police cruisers, the suspects were doing as much as 65 mph (104 km/h) in certain areas, and they attempted to go off-road twice, although both times they quickly got back onto the tarmac.
It’s a good thing that no pedestrians or motorists were hurt during the chase, and while we don’t get to see how everything ended, it’s safe to assume that the suspects were taken into custody soon after the chase was over. After all, we can’t see how they could have escaped, even briefly, given their surroundings as well as how many police cars were on their tail.
Like we said earlier, it’s fortunate that no one was hurt during all this, which is not always the case, as in another incident in Seattle in 2015 the police opened fire on the suspect’s car after a lengthy chase.
