Besides making history as a musician, Sir Elton John has owned some pretty amazing cars over the years, including this 1997 Aston Martin Vantage that is now heading to auction.
The classic sports car is estimated to fetch between £190,000 and £240,000 ($267,117-$337,411) at the Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Classic Car Sale, which takes place on February 24-25 at Stoneleigh Park in Coventry, UK.
Besides its celebrity ownership, which should be enough for enthusiasts to spend the healthy sum on this Aston Martin Vantage, the car has been properly maintained over the years. It has only 8,663 miles (13,942km) on the clock, and according to the vendor, it retains that ‘new car smell’.
Its exterior is finished in black, and the same shade can be found throughout the cabin, along with cashmere-soft leather and Walnut trim. This classic Vantage also has a Motorola phone and updated audio system.
Powering it is a 5.3-liter V8 that churns out 550hp and 550lb-ft (746Nm) of torque, channeled to the wheels through a modified ZF transmission that comes from the Chevrolet Corvette. Back when it was still new, Aston Martin claimed that the Vantage needed only 4.6 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60mph (96km/h), before maxing out at 191mph (307km/h).
So, where would you spend your hard-earned cash: on this 21-year old Vantage in pristine condition, or on a new DB11 V8, which starts from £159,900 ($224,800) in the United Kingdom?
