Chevrolet doesn’t have any plans to revive the El Camino nameplate anytime soon, which is a shame as the vehicle offered a great mix of performance and versatility. One thing Chevy never envisioned was someone turning its beloved Corvette into a monstrous pickup. But that’s exactly what this seller did.

The C3 Corvette had large shoes to fill coming off of the C2 ‘Vette, which is arguably the prettiest iteration of the sports car from the American automaker. The third generation of the vehicle is heavily based off of the Mako Shark II concept that made its debut at the 1965 Paris Auto Show. The iconic coke bottle shape was retained, as was the voluptuous hour-shape figure. It’s not the best-looking Corvette, but the C3 has some memorable lines.

The ’76 Corvette was built from the get-go as a sports car. But this owner wanted something more out of the machine. Current only sale on eBay (via Reddit) for $5,000, the Corvette looks like the perfect machine for when crap hits the fan.

Noticeably, the sports car’s frame has been swapped for a two-door frame from a 1987 Chevrolet Blazer. The frame, as the listing states, is straight, rust free, and factory original. The only thing that isn’t original is the V8 conversion kit that allows a 350 cubic four-bolt main engine to fit inside of the sports car.

Speaking of the V8 engine, the motor comes with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and a few performance parts from Edelbrock, including an intake, headers, and side pipes. The engine is paired to a General Motors gearbox with overdrive.

Getting back to the looks for a second, the Corvette has a similar design to a monster truck. The sports car is massive and sits on enormous Mickey Thompson Baja Claw tires. The car, fittingly, has 15×8 rally wheels. While the vehicle’s immense proportions would attract anyone, the really nifty thing about the build is that it’s part pickup truck.

The back of the vehicle features a pickup bed from an unnamed truck and a functioning Blazer tailgate. The bed looks pretty small and is useless when it’s being used as a spare tire holder. But take that tire out and you’ve got plenty of space for a Home Depot run.

There are a lot of cool aspects behind the vehicle, but it’s in pretty rough condition, hence the $5,000 price tag. It’s clearly a project car, but the seller claims that it “runs and drives” and has “fully functional 4 wheel drive.”

The car won’t be to everyone’s liking, but for someone that’s always wanted a Corvette that can go off-roading this is an affordable option to get in on the ground floor. Plus, the extra bonus of having a pickup bed is pretty nifty too.

It might look a little rough, but this classic still has a lot of potential.
