We’ve seen some pretty shocking and scary dashcam videos over the years but this clip from China looks downright apocalyptic.
According to Mirror, the incident occurred last weekend in China after a truck hauling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) crashed on the Beijing-Harbin Expressway in Beijing. Following the accident, the LPG leaked from its tanks and covered the roadway.
While most drivers stopped and put on their hazards lights, the driver in the bluish-green car reportedly tried getting around the accident. While the video seems to contradict this, the driver’s decision has terribly ill-advised as the car ended up setting the LPG ablaze. The fire initially surrounded the car but then quickly spread across the roadway. The driver of the vehicle in the front of the dashcam is then faced with a perilous decision to either run for their life or stay in the car and hope for the best.
Thankfully they seemed to have escaped the wrath of the blaze but the extent of the fire was massive as you can see it stretches several hundred feet as the dashcam-equipped vehicle reverses out of the way.
Surprisingly, no one was killed but the driver of the tanker reportedly received burns to over 50% of their body. The seven people in the vehicles seen in the clip all managed to escape relatively okay but reports suggest some received minor injuries.
