While we patiently wait for the upcoming Toyota Supra to make its debut in Geneva – reportedly in racing concept form, some talented fans over on Supra MKV have taken matters into their own hands and have made some amazing renderings of the sports car.
The realistic renderings take all of the design cues from the most recent crop of spy photos we’ve seen, making these computer-generated photos an accurate look at what’s to come. Just like the prototypes we’ve seen, the renderings take a lot of inspiration from the Toyota FT-1 Sports Coupe Concept that was revealed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Some exterior design elements that we really like on the renderings include the double bubble roof, the rear spoiler that’s built into the trunk, and a hood that resembles the nose of a Formula One car. Another easy-to-overlook design cue is how black trim pieces really help the sports car pop.
Usually, black trim is used to make wagon looks more rugged and to help automakers differentiate between regular pickups and ones that are more off-roading oriented. Obviously, here, the black trim pieces on the front fascia don’t make the Supra look more…rugged, but help give the sports car a more aggressive look. And it helps adds some color to the vehicle’s busy lines.
Supra MKV also has a poll up at the moment to see which color its users want to see on the sports car. Last we checked, blue is in the lead and black is close behind in second. Red and white and tied for third, while the fourth most popular cover is a toss up between silver and gray.
While blue and yellow are some of my favorite colors on cars, I’m really excited to see what the car looks like in silver. Some of the renderings picture the Supra in silver and it looks incredible.
