Nissan has once again confirmed that a V6 engine will be available for the Titan pickup truck but says no launch date has been finalized.

The only available engine to Nissan Titan customers is the 5.6-liter Endurance V8 delivering 400 hp and 400 lb-ft. A V6 is therefore much needed for customers who don’t want to shell out for the V8 and want an alternative to the V6 pickups from the Detroit Three.

Recently speaking with Auto Guide, Nissan spokesperson Kevin Raftery reiterated that a V6 is in the works.

“We did confirm that a V6 will be coming [in the Titan]. However, that’s all we are able to say as of now – no official timetable,” he said.

The Japanese carmaker first suggested that a V6 was imminent for the Titan late last year. During an interview with Wards Auto, Nissan senior vice president of product planning Michael Bunce said the V6 will premiere in the Frontier before making its way into the Titan.

Prospective customers looking to pick up a Nissan Titan will need to cough up at least $29,780 for the two-wheel drive long bed variant. By comparison, entry-level V6 versions of the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 start at $27,910 and $27,095 respectively.
