The Lykan Hypersport is an interesting car, for a number of reasons. Produced by little known Lebanese automaker W Motors, the car was made famous in Furious 7 and comes with a sticker price exceeding $3 million!
In a world full of custom Koenigseggs, Paganis, LaFerrari Apertas and Bugatti Chirons, that sum isn’t unheard of. However, for a company that has no heritage behind it like the aforementioned brands, such a figure is absurd.
As you read this, there is currently a brand new silver Lykan Hypersport for sale in Dubai. James Edition is listing it for $3.335 million. Only seven examples of the car were produced, but still, we don’t think it’s worth that much.
Powering the Hypersport is a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine developed by RUF. Despite delivering 780 hp and 708 lb-ft of torque, it isn’t the most exotic engine out there, particularly compared to the V12s from Pagani, Lamborghini and Ferrari.
What’s more, it is impossible to see how the value of a used Hypersport can possibly increase in the future. By comparison, a used LaFerrari, which can be purchased for a similar price, will certainly appreciate in the future.
Now, we’re not ones to tell millionaires where they should or shouldn’t spend their money. In this case, however, we’ll make an exception and say the Lykan Hypersport is overpriced. Go buy a limited-run Ferrari instead. Then again, as the saying goes, you pays your money and you take your choice.
