When it comes to interacting with its fans and promoting Formula One, few teams do it better than Red Bull Racing.
The racing outfit frequently indulges on various expeditions, such as sending Max Verstappen up a ski slope or Sebastian Buemi along a 200-year-old mountain pass in the Swiss Alps. Why? Because it’s fun and good publicity.
Back in 2013, the team sent then-Toro Rosso driver Daniel Ricciardo onto the streets of Colombo, Sri Lanka to show local fans how impressive F1 cars are to see in person. In this video, that’s just been published to the squad’s YouTube channel, we get to ride alongside the Australian during his wild ride.
In 2014, Daniel Ricciardo made his racing debut with the factory Red Bull Racing team when the new era of turbocharged F1 cars began. He went on to claim three race victories during the season, comfortably outscoring his four-time world champion teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Since 2015, Ricciardo has remained with Red Bull and will see out his current contract through to the end of 2018. From there, he is expected to either negotiate a new contract with the squad or sign with a rival team for the 2019 season.
