A second 2006 Subaru WRX stunt car used during the filming of Baby Driver will soon find its way into new hands when it is put up for auction by Mecum next month in Houston.
Despite what you may be thinking, this WRX isn’t the same one which was sold for $69,100 on eBay last year. Instead, this WRX stunt car was used during the opening bank robbery scene of the film and uses an all-wheel drive system, unlike the former which was converted to rear-wheel drive.
While power is still sent through all four wheels, the car has been subject to some comprehensive modifications. For starters, it includes forged CP pistons, an Exedy Stage 1 clutch, OS Giken front differential, Cusco rear LSD, and a hydraulic handbrake. Additionally, it includes a WRX STI gauge cluster and a host of functional STI accessories. All up, the production crew spent over $20,000 getting it ready for the film.
To top things off, the car is street legal.
No price has been publicized by the auction house but bidders shouldn’t expect much change from $70,000. For a modified Hawkeye WRX, that’s a lot. However, just six WRXs were used during Baby Driver and one of them owned by lead actor Ansel Elgort. This is therefore a rare chance to be part of an exceptionally exclusive club.
