The cabin of Beijing Auto’s recently redesigned Wrangler clone, the BJ40L, will make a massive shift towards a more premium appearance.
To be more specific, the interior will go from looking straight out of a previous-generation Wrangler, to something of a wannabe G-Class, with all sorts of Mercedes-like features, ranging from buttons to dials, and even the three-spoke steering wheel and dash display.
Add it all together and the cabin looks like a combination between the old G-Wagen’s and the one found on the all-new model, which also comes with round air vents and a flush center console.
As for the floating display and digital instrument panel, they’re a mixture of old and new Mercedes features. These images, shared by China’s Autohome, also reveal the facelifted BJ40L’s shifter design, start-stop button, automatic air conditioning system, two console-integrated cup holders and electronic handbrake switch.
Also, here’s what the non-facelifted model’s interior looks like, courtesy of CarNewsChina:
On the outside, the BJ40L hasn’t changed much, apart from the body-colored wheel arches, new bumper design, slightly thinner headlights and the addition of chrome mirror covers – the latter might depend on the trim level.
Powering the vehicle will be a duo of turbocharged 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter engines, producing 204 HP and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) and 250 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) respectively.
According to reports, the Beijing BJ40L will be officially unveiled next month.
