BMW has quietly revealed the 2018 X2 sDrive28i will be priced from $36,400 in the United States.

Costing $2,000 less than the X2 xDrive28i, the hatchback-like crossover comes equipped with LED lighting units, a power tailgate and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The base model doesn’t exactly scream luxury but it has a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 10-way power front sport seats with SensaTec upholstery. Drivers will also find an automatic climate control system, a seven-speaker audio system and high-gloss black trim with pearl gloss chrome accents.

A 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine resides under the hood and it produces 228 hp (170 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds before hitting a top speed of up to 144 mph (231 km/h). This means the front-wheel drive model is slightly slower than the all-wheel drive variant but it should be a tad more fuel-efficient.

Carsdirect reports the front-wheel drive BMW X2 is currently available to order and it will soon be joined by the 2019 X3 sDrive30i. The model will reportedly arrive at dealerships this summer with a base price of $41,000.

Like the all-wheel drive variant, the X3 sDrive30i will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 248 hp (185 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This enables the all-wheel drive model to run from 0-60 mph in six seconds flat and hit a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). As a result, we can expect similar figures from the two-wheel drive model.

The configurator for the X2 sDrive28i is already online and the configurator for the X3 sDrive30i will likely arrive in a few months.
