By this point, with the show opening tomorrow, we’ve heard from most automakers about their plans for this year’s Geneva Motor Show. One of the few exceptions is one of the closest, but now Bugatti has given us a hint at what it has in store for the big show.
Purposely enigmatic as it is, it’s hard to tell much from this teaser video. But if we’re picking up on the hints correctly, we could be looking the new Chiron Super Sport.
The anticipated upgrade on Bugatti’s sixteen-cylinder hypercar, the Super Sport could pack as much as 1,800 horsepower (based on the proportional step between the previous Veyron and its Super Sport version). That could prove enough to reclaim the crown from the likes of Koenigsegg and Hennessey, and propel the Alsatian exotic close to speeds approaching (or even exceeding) 300 miles per hour.
Super Sport or not, we can pretty much guarantee that we’ll be seeing some new version of the Chiron in Geneva. That much we can ascertain from the teaser video. Entitled “Further Shaping Our Category,” the clip appears to show four separate exhaust pipes (instead of the current model’s stylized two).
It’s hard to tell much from the other details shown – like the headlights, engine bay, and rear wing. But you can bet the show car will pack those new 3D-printed brakes they’ve been working on in Molsheim. For more than that, though, we’ll just have to hold on a little while longer as Bugatti’s press conference is scheduled to begin at 9:40 am local time tomorrow.
