Despite being one of the fastest super-saloons in the world, the BMW M760Li is not exactly the type of car you’d think it could topple a superbike in a straight line drag race.
However, on paper, it certainly has enough bite to back up its twin-turbo V12 bark. The M760Li puts down 610 PS (601 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque distributed to all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel drive system.
So while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), the M760Li will still hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in as little as 3.9 seconds – not as fast as the Ducati, but definitely impressive, especially since the AWD system should help it in getting off the line.
The new Panigale V4, on the other hand, has 214 PS (211 HP) and 124 Nm (91.5 lb-ft) of torque going to its rear wheel. Moreover, Ducati’s latest and greatest, and also its first V4, weighs about twelve times less than the BMW, so yeah, it’s pretty light on its feet and its power to weight ratio is immensely better than that of the Bimmer.
However, even though its MotoGP-derived advanced electronics include a launch control system, the Ducati still struggled to put its power down as quickly as the M760Li. Is that enough to give the BMW a fighting chance against the Italian superbike? Watch the following video and find out.
