After roughly 19 long years – it could be 16 depending on the way you count things – Toyota finally gave us a concrete look at the fifth-gen Supra’s design.
Sure, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra Racing Concept may just be a concept, but it’s not hard to visualize the road-going version of the sports car without things like the massive rear wing and ridged hood . And now, we have a video of concept in action – well, digitally at least.
Toyota put out a YouTube video on its account that sees the GR Supra Racing Concept go from a plain vehicle driving through city streets and what seems to be the Nurburgring, to then slowly being adorned with its badass livery.
But even more importantly, if you have sensitive ears that are capable of drowning out the music, the video provides a few aural cues as to what the car might sound.
While the Supra probably won’t come with a manual gearbox, the sports car is rumored to get a turbocharged inline-six engine. From what we can pick up, the car does sound as if its powered by a six-cylinder motor. For those with better ears than mine, the best part is from 1:12 to 1:20.
Since Gran Turismo recently announced that the GR Supra Racing Concept would makes its way to Gran Turismo Sport, we have a sneaking suspicion that Sony and Polyphony lent a helping hand at bringing the concept to life in the digital world.
For enthusiasts out there who have a PS4 and a copy of Gran Turismo Sport, you’ll be able to drive the concept in April. For everyone else, we’ll have to wait until 2019 to see the road-going version of the Supra.
