Australian customers looking to pick up a new pickup may want to check out the Holden Colorado, which has just launched Down Under with a new special edition.
Called the LSX, the rough-and-tumble pickup upgrades on the LS model with an array of blacked-out trim and accessories. But it will only be made available in strictly limited quantities.
The 2018 Holden Colorado LSX features 18-inch alloys, sports bar, grille, fender flares, soft tonneau cover, and the requisite special badges and decals – all done up in matte black for that increasingly popular murdered-out look.
Despite the common name and parent company, the Holden model is entirely different from the mid-size truck sold in America as the Chevy Colorado (or with GMC badges as the Canyon). It’s more closely related to the Isuzu D-Max, and is built on the other side of the globe in Thailand – Holden having recently ceased local production to import its lineup from factories overseas.
“We know a lot of our Colorado customers want to make their truck standout from the crowd and accessories are a great way to do that,” said Holden marketing director Mark Harland. “Colorado LSX combines some of our most striking and impactful accessories – inspired by the 2016 Colorado Xtreme concept car – while maintaining exceptional customer value.”
Only 800 examples of the LSX 4×4 will be available in Crew Cab pickup configuration, along with another 200 Crew Cab chassis models, ready for upfitting and conversion. Both versions will hit Holden showrooms Down Under in the middle of this month, priced from $44,990 in Australian dollars – or about $35k at current exchange rates.
