Maserati has released the first teaser image of what is believed to be the Levante GTS.

The company is keeping details under wraps but hinted a “new storm is coming” to the New York Auto Show. Maserati then added the Levante tag to its Twitter post.

The teaser image only provide a glimpse of the crossover but it reveals the high-performance model will have LED headlights and a unique front bumper with larger air intakes. We can see some stylish wheels which could be exclusive to the model.

While Maserati is playing coy, a company insider recently told us the automaker will use the show to introduce the Levante GTS and an even more powerful Levante Trofeo. Both models are expected to use the same twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that resides in the Quattroporte GTS.

While the engine produces 530 PS (390 kW) in the Quattroporte, the Levante GTS is expected to have an output of around 550 PS (404 kW). The Levante Trofeo is slated to be even more powerful as it could develop more than 600 PS (441 kW).

Besides featuring a V8 engine, both models will have an assortment of performance upgrades including a sport-tuned suspension and a high-performance braking system. The crossovers could also feature some minor interior tweaks to help distance them from the more mainstream Levante and Levante S.

Pricing remains unconfirmed but our insider suggested the GTS will start around $116,700 while the Trofeo will cost approximately $128,800. If those prices pan out, the models would straddle the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo which begins at $124,600.
