The main factor as to why this was simply a close call and not a high-speed crash is, in all likelihood, pure luck.
As you can see, the driver of the dashcam vehicle didn’t get the chance to react in any way, which means that all responsibility (and culpability) lies with the Ford Fiesta driver, who we imagine at one moment in time actually went past the “point of no return” where slowing down would have probably resulted in a crash.
The scene unfolded in County Durham, England, and the driver of the dashcam car described the incident like that: “While traveling on a local road, a car shot out of a junction directly in front of me. I was just totally amazed at how bad some people drive and thought how lucky we both were there was no collision.”
To be fair, whoever was driving that Fiesta wasn’t necessarily a bad driver, just a very irresponsible one – which is actually worse if you think about.
Regardless, it’s a good thing the two vehicles didn’t make contact. Judging by the camera angle, it seemed almost inevitable that they would, but in the end the Fiesta managed to squeeze through. And all’s well that ends well, right?
