A few days ago, a car event was held in Mississauga, Canada and it was the perfect place for local enthusiasts to bring out their prized vehicles from winter hibernation.
The owner of this Hyundai Genesis Coupe thought he’d take the opportunity to show off and rev the living hell out of the engine. Well, that plan backfired – pun most definitely intended.
Video from the event shows the driver flooring the Hyundai’s throttle and engaging the two-step system to have it spit flames and mimic the sounds of a machine gun. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long before the engine blew up, spewing oil and parts of the block and pistons across the ground.
According to one attendee at the show, the vehicle’s wastegate got stuck closed, but the driver continued to rev it, thus building boost and, eventually, blowing the engine to pieces.
This isn’t the first time said owner has attended a local show and acted this way, as footage has captured similar antics in the past. Additionally, users on Reddit claim that the owner has been forced to rebuild the engine a number of times already. What can we say; it seems that some people never learn.
