U Spy: Dallara’s 400 PS Stradale Supercar Testing With A Roof

Dallara’s first road car, the Stradale, was unveiled late last year, but testing and development of the track-focused weapon continues and Carscoops reader René Mackaay recently scooped this prototype testing in Germany.

Thanks to its race-inspired design, the Stradale definitely stands out the road, particularly when driving next to mundane trucks and hatchbacks. Despite the company’s attempts to disguise its true identity with black and white camouflage, there’s no mistaking the Stradale.

What makes the Dallara Stradale different from its competitors is the availability of numerous different roof and windscreen configurations. For example, the car is available with a T-top, no roof or, like the example pictured, with a fixed hardtop and a full windscreen.

When configured this way, the Stradale adopts Le Mans-style gullwing doors which provide easy ingress and egress to the cabin. Buyers also have the option of a large carbon fiber rear wing to create the ultimate track tool.

Incredible performance is standard

No matter how customers spec the vehicle, the sole engine option is a supercharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder delivering 400 PS. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional paddle-shift transmission, allowing the rear-wheel drive sports car, which weighs just 855 kg (1,885 lbs), to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in roughly three seconds.

A handful of journalists have jumped behind the wheel of the Stradale and had very positive things to say about it. Dallara intends on building up to 600 examples over the next four years, with pricing starting from £130,037 ($182,259) in the UK.
