Last Sunday, a four-car crash incident turned chaotic when one driver fled the scene, prompting bystanders and other drivers to try and stop him from doing so. One of them had a sledgehammer with him.
The silver Infiniti was trying to back up when people started yelling at the driver to stop, and others trying to open the doors of the heavily damaged SUV.
It was when the Infiniti entered a side street that one of the bystanders used a sledgehammer and smashed several windows of the car while others still try to open the doors of the still moving vehicle.
Eventually the damaged Infiniti found a path out of the traffic and the gathered pedestrians and fled the scene.
According to Miami Herald, the Infiniti driver then refused to stop for a patrol car and Miami police stopped the pursuit in accordance to the department’s policy on non-violent crimes. The 25-year-old driver was later arrested and it was revealed that he had a long history with law enforcement as he was ticketed 29 times in 10 years.
The 25-year-old Infiniti driver is charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and, according to his arrest report, appeared to “be high on narcotics”.
