The 2000 hp Nissan Patrol which stunned many by out-accelerating a Porsche 918 Spyder on The Grand Tour continues to live on in Dubai and is just as quick as ever.
The crew from Auto Bild in Germany recently traveled to the city to take a first-hand look at this world-beating SUV. What they discovered was an animal that can get the better of pretty much everything else on four wheels.
Obviously, you can’t make a Patrol this brisk with the standard powertrain. As a result, the company responsible for this monster has slotted in the VR38DETT engine of the R35 Nissan GT-R. To achieve the desired power gains, the engine has been stroked to 4.1-liters and overhauled with new internals as well as enlarged turbochargers. This results in 1800 hp at the wheels.
To show just how fast the vehicle is, Auto Bild pit it against a modified Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren in a rolling drag race. Unsurprisingly, it is the Patrol which walks away with an easy win, making the German supercar look like it was standing still.
Interestingly, the Patrol doesn’t just feature the drivetrain of the GT-R as most of its interior also comes from Godzilla, including the steering wheel and dashboard.
