BMW‘s Designworks and Virgin Hyperloop One have put together a physical full-scale prototype for a Dubai passenger capsule and brought it to City Walk Dubai as part of the UAE Innovation Month.

According to BMW, this passenger capsule is electromagnetically propelled through a vacuum tube and could reach speeds of up to 1,080 km/h (671 mph). Such a speed would help you travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi (139 km / 86 miles) in just 12 minutes.

The next step is for Virgin Hyperloop One to negotiate with the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai in order to make this project a reality in the near future.

“With the Virgin Hyperloop One design, we wanted to create a new visual expression for a new mode of public transportation,” stated Designworks LA Studio chief Johannes Lampela.

The capsule has no windows, yet the interior is described as being “comfortable and engaging”. Passengers would also need to be seated throughout the journey, for obvious safety reasons.

As for features, the design concept boasts multi-directional and personally-controlled lights, digital displays, traditional Arabic patterns and premium levels of comfort. If you opt to travel First Class, you can even enjoy adjustable heated and cooled leather seats with touchscreens for personal settings. Overall, not a bad way to get somewhere.
