We’ve known about the BMW M2 Competition for so long and learned so much about it that it almost feels as though the model is already available in dealerships.
In reality, we have yet to see the production model and BMW remains quiet about the performance car. However, thanks to a recently-leaked image showing a section of the M2 Competition’s front fascia, a member at the Bimmer Post forums has created a pair of renderings depicting the exterior design.
As the M2 Competition will be based on the LCI (facelift) model, it will be distinguished from most M2s on the roads with new headlights and taillights. To make it stand out even further, the German marque is expected to slightly enlarge the front air intakes while designing a sharper and more aggressive blacked-out kidney grille.
Changes won’t stop there. New wheels exclusive to the M2 Competition are anticipated as are carbon fiber wing mirror caps. BMW may also choose to replace all the chrome and silver accents of the standard car with gloss black elements. While not pictured in these renderings, changes will also be present at the rear and may include a bespoke diffuser, new tailpipes and a lip spoiler on the trunk lid. A hood similar to the one of the M4 GTS is also possible.
M4 power for the potent 2-Series
If the looks don’t win over BMW customers, the performance should. Rather than the single-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder of the existing model, the M2 Competition will feature a custom version of the M4’s twin-turbo inline-six detuned to roughly 404 hp.
