With Daniel Craig not returning as James Bond at least until 2019, we definitely need somebody to fill his shoes as a British government super spy. That somebody, for better or worse, is Rowan Atkinson, aka Johnny English.
This marks the third time Atkinson steps into the shoes of the goofy, yet irrationally confident English, the first time being in 2003, followed by a sequel in 2011. The third movie is called ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’ and according to its IMDb page, it will hit theaters on October 12th, 2018.
For ‘Strikes Back’, Atkinson will be driving a classic Aston Martin V8, equipped with missiles (and who knows what else). This car definitely makes the character feel more Bond-like, seen as how in his previous Johnny English film, Atkinson drove a bespoke V16 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe.
Atkinson’s third Johnny English movie will also feature former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), as well as Emma Thompson (in a supporting role), although Thompson’s involvement with the film was kept under wraps for a while.
As for the plot summary, this is what we can expect:
“After a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all of the active undercover agents in Britain, Johnny English is forced to come out of retirement to find the mastermind hacker.”
