The inaugural Pure McLaren international race series has just commenced at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

The championship, consisting exclusively of the 570S GT4, will be held across six different rounds throughout the year for a total of 12 races.

The 570S GT4s used in the series are either driver owned or rented. Each race weekend consists of 40 minutes of free practice on Friday, 20-minute qualifying sessions and 30-minute races on Saturday and Sunday.

The Pure McLaren championship consists of two categories. The overall category, simply known as the Pure McLaren series, is open to all competitors. Additionally, the championship includes the Bruce McLaren Cup, designed for drivers who have held their racing license for less than 12 months and not raced in series higher than club level.

The championship is open exclusively to McLaren owners with at least an International D grade license and the cars are maintained and run by McLaren engineers and technicians.

After this weekend’s round in Spa, Pure Mclaren will head to Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Spain on May 18-20. Subsequent rounds will take place at Portimao Circuit in Portugal (June 22-24), France’s Circuit Paul Ricard (July 27-29), Hockenheim in Germany (August 31-September 2), and Silverstone Circuit on September 28-30.

McLaren unveiled the 570S GT4 two years ago and it has since raced in a number of series, including the British GT Championship.
