Mercedes is the latest automaker to offer a subscription service in the United States as the company has announced plans to launch a pilot program in June.
Set to be available in Nashville, Tennessee and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the service will be called the Mercedes-Benz Collection. The company is currently accepting applications for the service but the automaker hasn’t revealed pricing or vehicle details.
Mercedes says the service will offer multiple subscription tiers which will provide access to a “broad array of Mercedes-Benz offerings including SUV, sedan, coupe, cabriolet, roadster and wagon models.” The company also said each tier will allow members to drive high-performance Mercedes-AMG vehicles.
Once customers become a member of the Mercedes-Benz Collection, they can initiate vehicle exchanges and “other actions” via a dedicated app. Concierge staff will then deliver their desired vehicle and apparently set it up to the meet the customer’s pre-selected preferences.
Like other vehicle subscription programs, the monthly fee will give users unlimited access to an assortment of vehicles within their selected tier. There will be no mileage restrictions and the monthly fee also includes insurance, vehicle maintenance and roadside assistance.
Additional information will be released closer to this summer’s launch but it is interesting to note Mercedes selected Nashville, Tennessee as one of the pilot cities. BMW also selected the city to launch their subscription service called Access by BMW.
BMW’s service kicked off earlier this month and it allows users to pay $2,000 a month to receive access to assortment of vehicles including the 5-Series sedan, X5 and M2. The company also offers an M tier for $3,700 per month and it includes models such as the M4 Convertible, M5, M6, X5 M and X6 M.
