Mercedes is set to showcase a brand-new Maybach crossover concept at the Beijing Auto Show this week. We’ve already seen leaked images of the vehicle. But the automaker is apparently not ready to reveal it in full just yet. So it’s put out another teaser video.
This latest clip shows more than the previous one did. It gives us a clear look at the headlights, front end, wheels, flank, and other details. You can even see a bit more of the interior through the open door and glass sunroof. But the leaked images still show us more.
Called the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury, the concept ostensibly shows what the next GLS-Class could look like. And in Maybach spec, no less. That’d help Daimler take on the new breed of super-luxe SUVs, like the Bentley Bentayga and forthcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan. It’ll be up to the AMG version, however, to take on the more performance-oriented models like the Lamborghini Urus and upcoming Aston Martin, whatever that’s ultimately called.
Maybach’s Second SUV
It would only be the second SUV done up by the Maybach sub-brand. The last one was a partial convertible version of the previous G-Class. Maybach has also applied its ultra-high-end treatment to the S-Class Cabriolet, but the mainstay of its lineup is the S-Class sedan. In the end, Maybach may be the only department under the Mercedes umbrella to keep offering V12s, as the standard 600 models have been discontinued, and the AMG 65 line is expected to face the axe as well.
Mercedes is set to take the wraps off this latest concept tomorrow. So keep your eyes peeled and this site bookmarked for when it’s unveiled in full.
