If you’re out looking for a tough-as-nails commercial vehicle with some serious off-road abilities, then Toyota UK might have just the right thing for you.
This is the first commercial vehicle version of the Toyota Land Cruiser offered in the UK, as the company wants to broaden the appeal of the iconic SUV in the market.
Toyota will offer both short- and long-wheelbase versions, with three and five doors respectively. In both cases the rear seats are removed, creating a spacious cargo area that can fit 1,574 liters in the SWB and 2,216 liters in the LWB version. Payload is up to 593 and 756kg respectively.
Both versions of the new Toyota Land Cruiser LCV can tow braked trailers with loads of up to three tonnes.
“Bringing the exceptional strength of Land Cruiser to our LCV line-up adds a valuable new dimension to the range, alongside the rugged Hilux pick-up and versatile Proace medium-duty van,” said Gareth Matthews, Toyota Light Commercial Vehicle Manager.
“We are sure that the quality and performance that have made Land Cruiser such a strong performer worldwide will be sought after by customers who need a vehicle they can rely on to do the job, every time,” he added.
Power comes from the company’s 2.8-liter D-4D turbodiesel engine that makes 175hp and up to 331lb-ft of peak torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard fit while the permanent four-wheel drive system features a Torsen limited slip differential at the center and the classic low-range option. Minimum ground clearance is 215mm, while the maximum wading depth is 700mm.
The new Toyota Land Cruiser Utility Commercial comes with 17-inch steel wheels, cloth seats, air conditioning, smart entry and a six-speaker audio with Bluetooth, among other. Sales in the UK have already started, with prices kicking off from £27,546 for the SWB version and from £28,509 for the LWB. First deliveries are expected to commence this July.
