Mazda has teased the facelifted BT-50 ute it will soon introduce in Australia.

Teased through a single image, Mazda says that the 2018 BT-50 “will see significant front end design changes, doing away with curving lines to strengthen the ute’s impressive road stance.”

The Japanese automaker adds that the front bumper has been overhauled, contrasting fog light surrounds added, and a new lower air intake and skid plate fitted. A new grille has also been developed.

“The utility segment is a huge priority in Australia and for Mazda; we’re always looking to improve and enhance our product offering, to remain competitive and appealing to our customers,” Mazda Australia managing director Vinesh Bhindi said.

“This upgrade gives the BT-50 a stronger and tougher bearing, which we know Australians look for in a ute.”

Alongside the visual changes, the 2018 BT-50 will receive new features and equipment across the various grades.

The ute will retain the current model’s 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
