Audi is preparing to unveil the 2019 Q8 in a unique way as the company is gearing up to release a five-part series which prominently features the company’s latest crossover.

The first episode will be released on May 21st and Audi has released a short teaser video which gives us a look at the upcoming series. The clip doesn’t provide much context but the series apparently centers on a kidnapping that occurred at a private after party. The main characters then use the Q8 to chase down leads and figure out what’s going on.

Audi’s official synopsis isn’t much more revealing as it says “Sandra and Quentin, an extravagant power couple from the Golden State, had it all. Successful careers, a design loft, an influential circle of friends and the perfect car to match it all. But in a split second everything is about to change.”

Besides saying terrible things will happen to Q8 owners, Audi released a design sketch of the upcoming model. It shows the crossover will have an upward sweeping beltline, a gently sloping roof and rakish D-pillars. We can also see a tailgate-mounted spoiler and slender taillights which are connected by a thin strip like on the A8. Other notable styling features include muscular rear fenders, a dual exhaust system and a rugged rear bumper.

The sporty exterior will give way to a high-tech cabin which features a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment system and a lower display which provides access to climate control and convenience features. Previous spy photos have also shown the model will have leather upholstery, metallic accents and distinctive air vents.

Under the hood, we can expect a variety of different engines including a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with around 252 hp (188 kW) and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 developing approximately 355 hp (263 kW). Audi is also expected to offer a plug-in hybrid variant which features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. This could enable the crossover to produce a combined maximum output of around 443 hp (330 kW) and have an electric-only range of up to 37 miles (59 km).

Audi is also working on an S Q8 and RS Q8. The latter could have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing around 530 hp (395 kW).
