McLaren confirmed that former professional racing driver Kenny Brack is their new Chief Test Driver.
Brack fills the position of Chris Goodwin who left for Aston Martin and has 35 years of experience in motorsports, including racing in IndyCar, CART, F3000 and rallying, as well as being a test driver in F1 and Nascar.
He also lapped the Nurburgring with a P1 LM in a blistering 6:42.3, and will be responsible for leading the dynamic development of all McLaren road cars.
“Kenny’s record as a formidable first-class racing driver – which includes winning an IndyCar Championship and the Indianapolis 500 – speaks for itself, but I believe his talents as a development driver are even more impressive and make him the ideal person to lead the team shaping the way that McLaren cars drive,” said Dr. Jens Ludmann, Chief Operating Officer, McLaren Automotive.
Brack has already worked closely with McLaren’s engineering team as a driver consultant, participating in the development of both the 720S and the Senna. He’s also assisting the British supercar maker on the development of future models.
“I am driven by a desire to win, to achieve results; for me, the key dynamic traits needed to explore my own limits and those of a vehicle on a race track are predictability and consistency,” said Kenny Brack. “These elements are also fundamental for a road car to be both safe and satisfying and as a result you’ll find them integral to the 720S and the Senna.”
