It will probably come as little surprise that Rolls-Royce customers tend to be pretty happy with their cars. They’re exquisitely crafted machines, after all – easily among the most luxurious and opulent creations ever put on four wheels. And they pay handsomely for the privilege, what with their six-figure price tags. But one owner thought that wasn’t enough, so he wanted to give back to the men and women who made his car.

As a token of his appreciation, he sent the entire workforce a cake. A big cake, made in the shape of the new Phantom of which he just took delivery. It was even decorated in the colors of his actual car. And he showed up to hand out the slices himself.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the hard working people; the unsung heroes who are responsible for these mobile works of art,” said the customer, who evidently wished to remain unnamed.

One of the First

Rolls-Royce builds the new eighth-generation Phantom at it factory in Goodwood, England. Production kicked off in January. Considering that it only builds a few hundred each year, that makes this customer among the first to receive his new limousine.

“It is not unusual for our patrons to thank the men and women in the Rolls-Royce family who are responsible for building their motor cars, but this is the first time that one has asked to express their thanks in this way,” said Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös. “We thank our patron for this extraordinary gesture, which was warmly welcomed by everyone at the Home of Rolls-Royce.”
