In contrast to other videos, where powerful cars demonstrate their straight-line speed on a drag strip alone or racing someone else, this Lexus LS 500h is not going to stun the chronometers any time soon.
Then again, it wasn’t designed to do that, but to transport passengers in comfort and get them to their destination relatively quickly. Thus, the Japanese brand’s luxury sedan has the same purpose as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class – excluding, of course, the AMG models…
Lexus’ LS 500h is no slouch though, as it has a total output of 354hp (359PS / 264kW) from a 3.5-liter V6 engine and two electric motors. Power is channeled to all four corners through a CVT paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. The heavy (5,027l bs- 2,280 kg) luxury sedan takes 5.4 seconds to reach 62 mph (100k m/h), and 0.2 seconds less to 60 mph (96 km/h).

If you find a long enough stretch of road, the LS 500h will go beyond the 155 mph (250 km/h) mark. However, getting there requires patience. How much patience? That would over a minute, as revealed in a video posted by AutoTopNL. This isn’t that bad to start with, but it isn’t record-breaking either. Still, for the fun of it, let’s watch it accelerate from 0 to 157 mph (253 km/h) in the short film that follows.
