Mercedes-Benz unveiled updated versions of their S63 and S65 Coupe and Cabrio models last September, with more efficient power units and slightly altered exterior styling.
Among the novelties are the adoption of Mercedes’ Panamericana grille (an AMG GT R first), standard OLED taillights and new wheels. The biggest change, though, was ditching the old 5.5-liter unit for a 4.0-liter biturbo V8, with 612 PS (603 HP) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.
Sounds pretty impressive, right? It is. And with a price tag of roughly €128,000 in Germany ($167,700 in τηε U.S.), it’s costly, too. Of course, there’s a way for you to pay way more than that, if you just call up Brabus and ask for their take on the updated 2018 S63 Coupe.
Its €337,824 ($394,000) price tag makes the stock model look like a bargain. Then again, it packs 800 PS (789 HP) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque thanks to the Brabus B40S power kit, which consists mainly of two new turbos and the tuner’s PowerXtra engine control unit.
Whereas the regular S63 Coupe will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, the Brabus 800 will do it in just 3.1 seconds before maxing out at 300 km/h (186 mph).
Other features include a custom exhaust, carbon-glossy front lip, front skirt add-ons, rear diffuser, rear skirt, rear spoiler and mirror covers, illuminated radiator grille logo, custom brakes, 21-inch Monoblock M wheels and a custom suspension module.
Inside, it comes with fine leather trim, ventilated seats, custom floor mats and steering wheel, illuminated sill plates, Brabus-marked aluminum pedal pads, door lock pins and a lot more. Just about every surface is covered in leather, which is how it should be, considering just how expensive of a car this is.
The only stumble is its price. Granted, it’s a very nice, and extremely powerful, piece of kit, but is it really worth nearly $230k more than the already quite potent S63?
