Britain’s gearing up for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. And few automakers are as quintessentially British as Mini. So the automaker has prepared a special, one-of-a-kind hatchback to commemorate the occasion. And it’s donating the car to one of the royal couple’s favorite charities.
The majestic Mini is done up in Crystal White with silver-blue accents. It also features and a matte blue-silver band, blue-black tinted brightwork, and dark matte blue wheel rims. The side “scuttles” (those embellishments on the front fenders) are 3D-printed with the initials M & H. And they project the words “Just Married” on the ground when the door opens.
Not Until After The Wedding
The biggest exterior design element, though, is the special roof graphic that blends elements from the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes of the bride’s native United States. Inside it’s all done up in grey leather with more blue-black tinted chrome, with other special touches abound.
“As an iconic British brand with almost 60 years of history in the UK, we are pleased to mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift,” said Mini design chief Oliver Heilmer. “The MINI Design team has created a one-off MINI Hatch for the occasion. Its specially designed roof graphic combines with 3D-printed personalised interior and exterior details as well as special embroidery to make this a MINI like no other.”
Following the wedding on May 19, Mini will donate the special hatchback to the Children’s HIV Association, which in turn will auction it off to raise funds for its activities.
