Dyno testing a car like the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is usually pretty simple and problem free. That is until your hand gets caught between a spinning rear wheel and the roller.
This particular mishap happened during a recent dyno day in Ohio and unless you have a very strong stomach, could make you feel a little nautious.
The ZR1 in question had been driven to the dyno from the street and therefore had some rocks on the tires that needed to be brushed off. It was one man’s job to do this by putting a brush on the tire as the driver carefully span the wheels. However, the worker inadvertantly got the bristles stuck between the tire and roller and almost instantly, had his arm dragged under the wheel.
The man could have easily broken his arm or wrist but fortunately, appeared to get away with nothing but a red face from the embarrassment and a video that captures his carelessness.
Unveiled to the world at last year’s LA Auto Show, the new Corvette ZR1 has a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine delivering 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. Power is funneled exclusively through the rear wheels and in the right conditions, the ZR1 will hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.85 seconds and run the quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 134 mph (215 km/h).
