When it comes to scaring the living daylights out of you outright fun, nothing can beat the Shelby Cobra. You can keep your Lambos, Ferraris, McLarens and the rest of the exotic stuff because the Cobra remains the rawest, most exciting vehicle on the planet.
We can all thank Superformance for building Shelby Cobras to this day, with the original factory’s blessing, under the Shelby Legendary Cars brand name. It’s not a replica; it’s as close you can get to the real deal.
Based on a MK3 chassis, the Superformance Shelby Cobra tips the scales at a little over 2,000 lbs and is powered by a Ford V8 that pumps out 575 HP. There’s no power steering, no traction control, no air-con – just a carpeted interior, lap belts and lots of driving fun to be had, provided you know what you’re doing behind the wheel.
After all, the Shelby Cobra is basically a rumbling V8 with two seats strapped to it, and for that, no car can ever come close to the driving experience of the iconic roadster.
David Patterson from That Dude in Blue had the opportunity of driving a Superformance Shelby Cobra around the company’s factory. Wearing his widest smile, he explains what makes the Cobra so exciting in the video that follows.
