If you want to get symbolic, you could say that a mammal like the Jaguar would stand no chance against a supernatural, malevolent being like a Demon.
Weirdly enough, the same can be said with regards to these two cars. For starters, the Jaguar F-Type SVR falls way short of the Dodge Demon’s power and torque figures, with the Dodge being in a whole different league, at least as far as drag racing is concerned.
Look at the numbers and you might say that there’s really no point to this race. The Demon’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 produces a whooping 840 horses on race fuel and 1,042 Nm (770 lb-ft) of torque. It can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds and run a quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph (225 km/h).
The thing is, those are all ideal scenarios for the Demon, and every once in a while, a car will come along that can take advantage of the fact that not every launch is perfect. Of course, such a car would have to be quick, in order to not allow the Demon to immediately catch up to it and obliterate it by the time they cross the finish line.
As luck would have it, the F-Type SVR is precisely that type of sneaky-fast supercar, banking on a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 575 PS (567 HP) and 710 Nm (523 lb-ft) of torque. It needs just 3.7 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and will max out at 322 km/h (200 mph).
So how badly would the Dodge Demon driver need to mess up his launch? Not too bad, actually – but it’s better if you see for yourselves.
