A university student has been fined and had his license revoked after being nabbed driving his Lamborghini Huracan at 208 km/h (129 mph) in an 80 km/h (50 mph) zone in Sydney, Australia.
Chinese student Hang Shu was given the supercar as a wedding gift just four days before he unknowingly sped past a patrol car. A brief pursuit ensued before the 27-year-old was pulled over, 9 News reports.
Shu was ordered to attend Waverly Court, but failed to appear on two occasions. A warrant for his arrest was eventually issued and he spent a night locked up. The student was fined $3,000 and had his license suspended for three years.
Discussing the case last week, the magistrate said Shu should have known better: “Rather than being given a silver spoon… he had been given a yellow Lamborghini,” he commented.
Shu was driving on a foreign license at the time of the offense.
We have to admit that it doesn’t take much to break all limits in a Huracan; just a firm press of the right pedal for a few seconds will do. Speeding in public, however, is never a good idea, even if you do so late at night when there’s little to no traffic around.
For owners of high-performance cars that feel the need for speed, taking their vehicle’s to a local racetrack is a much safer option, as you get to have your kicks without endangering others and keep your driving license.
