After taking on a number of very fast machines in a straight line, some of them with mind-blowing power, the McLaren 720S doesn’t have to prove anything.
It’s extremely quick, engaging to drive, wears Woking’s latest design language and is packed with the brand’s latest in-car technology.
So, what could we possibly see in regards to the 720S that we haven’t already seen? That would be its 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) sprint, described as ‘insane’ by the video shared below. That’s actually the perfect word to refer to it, because the company’s Super Series model is definitely very close to a hypercar when it comes to performance.

As a side note, the top speed indicated by the digital instrument cluster was actually 303 km/h (188 mph). And that’s not even its limit, because the official specs reveal a whopping 341 km/h (212 mph) flat-out, and only 2.9 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint. The 200 km/h (124 mph) mark is hit in 7.8 seconds after setting off.
The 720S has 720PS (710hp / 530kW) and 770Nm (568lb-ft) of torque courtesy of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 based on the 3.8-liter unit that’s present throughout the company’s range.
As good as it may be, the McLaren 720S has something to be very afraid of: the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador SV J. The supercar is expected to have almost 800 PS (789 hp / 589 kW) from its naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12, in addition to other upgrades over the magnificent Aventador SV. And someone, somewhere, will eventually race the two against each other. We can hardly wait…
