Not that long ago, having a car that could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than four seconds meant looking at an insanely expensive exotic.
However, in the meantime, things have drastically changed, and in between engine downsizing and making vehicles friendlier to the environment, automakers have also made them insanely powerful and extremely quick.
Consumers have plenty of rides to choose from that combine the best out of both worlds: five seats, good boot capacity and sports car-like handling. One of them is the new generation BMW M5, which has already won many accolades.

It takes as little as 3.4 seconds to go from naught to 100km/h (0-62mph), the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark is hit in 11.1 seconds and top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). The latter can be increased, though, to 305 km/h (190 mph), by fitting the super sedan with the optional M Driver’s Package that does away with the electronic speed limiter.
For the first time ever, the M5 F90 has an intelligent all-wheel drive system. This was deemed necessary for the 600 PS (592 HP / 441 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque produced by the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 to be put as efficiently as possible to the tarmac.
There’s no doubt then that the new M5 is a capable super saloon with impressive performance, but have you actually seen it go from rest all the way up to its top speed? If not, then you have come to the right place, because AutoTopNL has a video that shows it sprint to 308 km/h (191 mph) from a standstill.
So, hit the play button below and keep an eye on that red needle, as the Munich-born machine hits its top speed very quickly.
