Ferrari only extends the opportunity to buy into its XX client development program to its most elite customers. That means “not the rest of us.” But if you’ve been hankering for the chance to get behind the wheel of Maranello’s latest track-focused hypercar, and aren’t among its top clients, this could be your chance.
British broker Knight International has an example of the latest FXX-K Evo up for sale. It’s one of the existing FXX-Ks, built in 2016, that’s been upgraded to Evoluzione spec, not constructed to that standard from the get-go. But the result is the same.
It’s based on the hybrid LaFerrari, but tuned for the track with more extreme bodywork, less weight, and a more potent powertrain. The 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 kicks out 848 horsepower (633 kW), and the electric component kicks in another 187 hp (140 kW) for a combined output of 1,036 hp (772 kW) and over 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.
With a power-to-weight ratio of 3.13 pounds (1.42 kg) per horsepower, the FXX-K was clocked around Fiorano at 1:14 – over two seconds faster than the road car on which it was based, and faster than any other production-based Prancing Horse to date. And the Evo version ought to be even faster, producing 23 percent more downforce than the “standard” FXX-K, or 75 percent more than the road-going LaFerrari.
With only 40 examples made, the opportunity to acquire an FXX-K – with or without the Evo package – is a rare one indeed. What’s more is that – judging from the number of livery – this appears to be the very one that the factory chose to unveil, adding that much more to its allure.
It’s said to be situated in Italy, with 124 miles (200 km) on the clock, and has never crashed. Though the dealer hasn’t disclosed an asking price, you can bet it has two commas in it. And as an added bonus, Knight International even says it will arrange to have it converted to street-legal trim, which would (as far as we know) be the first FXX-K Evo to be so transformed.
