We first reported on the Baojun E100 last August, when the Smart ForTwo Electric Drive rip-off copycat was initially launched in China.
In the meantime, though, the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture has updated it with a few features that have also resulted in a price hike.
Offered in two variants, from RMB 46,800 ($7,308) and RMB 59,800 ($9,338) respectively after national and local subsidies, the small electric car is now RMB 11,000 ($1,718) more expensive in entry-level form than before.
The price increase is justified by the increased range, which has gone up from 155km (96mi) to 200km (124mi). Elsewhere, the 2019 Baojun E100 benefits from other gizmos, like Bluetooth, automatic pedestrian warning and “intelligent lock function on charging equipment” (whatever that might be).

The Chinese battery powered mini car benefits from the addition of a new door handrail and storage box in the Zhixing entry-level grade, and automatic folding rearview mirrors and reversing camera in the more upscale Zhixiang version.
Inside its 2,488mm (98in) long, 1,506mm (59.3in) wide and 1,617mm (63.7in) tall body, which weighs just 800kg (1,764lbs), the Baojun E100 offers seating for two. It has a top speed of 100km/h (62mph) and comes with an overall warranty of 3 years or 60,000km (37,282mi), and an 8-year or 120,000km (74,565mi) warranty for the core parts, as the company puts it.
Moreover, the automaker offers free home charging equipment installation at no extra cost, along with free charging, for every new E100 purchased until the end of the year.
