Australia’s Mark Webber not only has expertise behind the wheel of Formula One and LMP1 race cars but under his current role at Porsche, gets to drive the brand’s newest and most exciting road cars.

Most recently, Webber was given the chance to drive the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the Nurburgring GP circuit, the same place where he won his very first Formula One race back in 2009.

The GT3 RS provided to the successful racer was painted bright yellow, equipped with the optional Weissach package and completed by a set of gold wheels. Yellow paint with gold wheels may seem like an odd color combination but it works surprisingly well.

The Australian isn’t wrong to call the GT3 RS a rocketship.

Everyone knows that the GT3 RS is fast but the latest iteration surprised many when it lapped the Nordschleife in a blistering 6:56.4, eclipsing even the 887 hp Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar.

In its current form, the sports car uses a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six engine delivering 520 hp and essentially lifted straight from the 911 race car. Like the previous model, power from the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission that helps rocket the GT3 RS to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a blistering 3 seconds.
