It was inevitable that a tuning company would eventually roll out a few upgrades for the new generation Audi A8, and one of the first to have done it is ABT Sportsline.
The German firm, which is known primarily for modifying vehicles within the Volkswagen Group, has set its eyes on the ’50’ version of Ingolstadt’s flagship saloon. In stock form, the model is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine, which develops 286PS (282hp / 210kW) and 600Nm (443lb-ft) of torque.
With the addition of the ABT Engine Control (AEC) module, which is basically an ECU remap, the output has gone up to 330PS (325hp / 243kW) and 650Nm (479lb-ft) of torque. According to ABT, despite the extra power, “the engine always runs smoothly, ensuring that all factory safety functions are retained”.

The tuner chose not to tamper with the exterior and interior of the car. Thus, they only added 10×22-inch wheels, called ABT Sport GR. The rims have a matte black look with a diamond-finished surface, and a 10-bisecting-spoke pattern.
Moving forward, it’s likely that ABT will continue to roll out upgrades for the 2019 Audi A8, which should eventually involve the rest of the engine range, as well as potential exterior mods.
Until then, those looking to get a little more from their latest Audi luxury sedan can go ahead and order the new exterior sport package, which was launched last December.
