It’s not always that straight line brawls between SUVs and two-door coupes end with anything resembling a close result. This however, was pretty much a photo finish.
Both vehicles are heavily altered and both are breathing in Nitrous Oxide, to go with a range of other mods. The best part though is that the previously-mentioned total of 2,000 HP is being split right down the middle.
That’s 1,000 ponies for the Challenger Hellcat and another 1,000 for the SRT8 Grand Cherokee. The former is also equipped with an upper/lower pulley, long tube headers, 1,300 cc injectors, triple fuel pump, E85 juice, cold air intake, nitrous and drag radials.
The Jeep on the other hand seems to feature a more basic setup, relying mostly on turbocharging and nitrous as its main tools of war, although, we’d throw the fact that it has all-wheel drive in there too, since it increases its chance of getting off to a good start off the line – something that Hellcat is well-equipped to do, thanks to its drag race-specific rubber.
In the end, all we’ll say is that a mere 0.1 seconds separated the two cars as they crossed the 1/4 mile finish line. Also, both did it in under 10 seconds flat, which is hypercar territory, more recently known as McLaren 720S territory.
