It won’t be long now before Porsche rolls out the new 992-generation 911 Turbo, taking what’s already a superlative performer to even further lengths. But before it does, one of the top tuners in the business is sending the current model off in style.
The TechArt “GTsport 1 of 30” edition is based on the outgoing 991.2 Turbo S, but packs a host of performance and cosmetic upgrades to take it even further. Where the Turbo S in stock form packs 580 horsepower (432 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque, TechArt’s Techtronic power kit ups those figures to 640 hp (477 kW) and 649 lb-ft (880 Nm). The result is a 0-62 time of 2.7 seconds (down from 2.9 seconds stock) and a top speed quoted at 338 km/h (210 mph), up from the standard 330/205.
TechArt also fitted its variable sport exhaust for better sound, capped by titanium finishers with carbon-fiber sleeves. The suspension’s also dropped by 30 mm (1.2 inches), the wheels replaced with TechArt’s own 20-inch Formula IV Race two-tone forged alloys, and the tires with Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.
There’s a full aero kit, of course – rendered in carbon fiber and including an air scoop on the rear deck. And it includes a new, smaller-diameter steering wheel. But as the name suggests, the tuner will only make 30 of these kits, each carrying a retail price of €29,991, including 19% VAT. That works out to roughly $35,000 at current exchange rates, and doesn’t include the $190,700 purchase price of the donor car. Now we can hardly wait to see what TechArt does with the new model once it’s out.
