A lot of crazy things happen at music festivals but you normally don’t see emergency crews having to rescue someone who stuck their head up a truck’s exhaust pipe.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened in Minnesota last week. According to the Hutchinson Leader, 19 year old Kaitlin Strom was attending the Winstock Music Festival on Friday with her friends when she saw a truck with a huge exhaust and thought “Hey, my head could probably fit in that.”
What happens next is pretty obvious as Strom proceeded to stick her head in the exhaust where it became stuck. As she explained to the paper, “[I was] kind of confused because I didn’t know what was going on, because I couldn’t see around me, but I trusted everyone who was around that I knew to get me out safely.”
Someone eventually called the Winsted Fire Department and they arrived on the scene to free Strom from the exhaust. Firefighters ended up having to cut the exhaust system apart and Storm estimates that she stuck for approximately 45 minutes.
While sticking your head in a tailpipe is always a bad idea, it’s worth noting that alcohol was involved. The paper says Storm was cited for underage drinking by the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office.
After being given a medical exam and returning home, Storm realized someone had posted a video of her embarrassing incident online. While the clip is only a few seconds long, it has already been viewed by millions of people.
As for the owner of the truck, she apologized and he told her “I’m just glad you’re okay. Don’t worry about it.” She didn’t pay him for the damage but the truck has already been fixed.
