Despite its lack of sales success (well, it actually tanked), the Mercedes R-Class did have a pretty long lifespan. It hung around between 2005 and 2013, when it was discontinued as the company focused on its SUVs.

The AMG version was of course the fastest R-Class ever built, powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 510 PS (503 HP) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, directed to all four wheels through a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Despite weighing over 2.3 tonnes (5,100 lbs), the R63 AMG could rocket to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just under 5 seconds, making it almost as fast as some super-saloons back in the mid to late 2000s. It was basically a ridiculously quick version of a car that not a lot of people liked despite its vast space and practicality.

This 2007 model, being auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, features a Pale Blue exterior, a grey leather interior, 20-inch silver AMG five-spoke wheels and a (quite high) 129,000 miles (207,000 km) showing on the odo.

It’s definitely seen its fair share of open roads, yet it looks pretty good, especially on the inside with the mix of leather and Alcantara accents, wood veneers and so on. Features include the dual-pane sunroof, Parktronic, the COMAND infotainment system, a/c, cruise control, KeylessGo and loads more tech.

According to the ad, this R63 has been repainted, which is why it looks so clean. Sneak a peak at its undercarriage though and you’ll be forced to accept that this is a 11 year old car that’s seen its fair share of use. Its price currently sits at $25,000, which is reasonable for the amount of performance it offers – if you can live with a glorified luxury minivan, that is.
