ABT is working on yet another crazy Audi RS6, dubbed the RS6-E and reportedly delivering up to 1000 HP.
The German tuning company has teased the vehicle with a very brief Facebook clip. Unfortunately, it doesn’t actually show the car, but rather simply reveals its name. However, the name alone could reveal some information.
More specifically, the presence of ‘E’ in the badge suggests that the vehicle will have some kind of electrification. Audi doesn’t have an electrified variant of the RS6, so if it’s indeed a hybrid, the technology will be sourced from elsewhere.
As you probably know, ABT competes in Formula E alongside Audi Sport and Schaeffler. This gives the company access to the advanced electric powertrains used in the open-wheeled racing series.
In fact, Schaeffler created an all-electric Audi RS3 just a few months ago using the powertrain of a Formula E car. Could ABT be about to do the same with the RS6? It’s entirely possible.
Alternatively, the company may decide to retain the estate’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and outfit it with electric turbochargers or a 48V mild-hybrid system. Whatever the case may be, with 1,000 HP the car will be ferociously quick.
Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see the finished item, as ABT says it will be unveiled on July 5 – that is, in two days. In the meantime, just think to yourself how epic a hybrid RS6 with 1000 HP and an outlandish bodykit could be.
